Christian Music Review

The Contemporary Christian Stars Shine For Christ.
We have selected some of our favorites to share with you.

Jaci Velasque
Only three short years ago, an unknown 16 year old, soon-to-be-phenom, exploded in the world of Christian music. She names among her greatest influences, Amy Grant, a young artist who forged the very same path that Jaci  is now on as a contemporary Christian woman, sharing her heart and voice through music.

"I've always known what I wanted from life. I know what I want out of my ministry. I want to go and reach people my age that maybe even a youth pastor couldn't reach.... It scares me to death, but I know where I stand with the Lord"

Jaci is an extremely devout Christian. She believes in seeking and doing God's will. "To have a relationship with God, it's the most important testimony you can have before people. It's not easy all the time -- I have a hard time with it sometimes. But that's what is going to last."

Michael W Smith (Smitty)
"When I sit down to play, I feel like I'm doing what God called me to do. It's an expression of my gratitude. I could never take credit  for it. I sit down and play these  things and I don't even know what my fingers do. They go here,  I close my eyes and all of a sudden, I'm playing this thing. It's a bit overwhelming how it works."

"Friends is one of those songs that I honestly believe only comes along once in a lifetime, at least for me. To see this song affect people  the way it has for so many years is pretty heavy. I honestly think  there's something supernatural about it. I'm really humbled by it."

David Meece
Odyssey:  David tells us,  "To those who are wearied by the doubts, loneliness, and pain of living in a world more adept at accepting evil than expecting good.  Be patient with the unsolved mysteries in your heart.  The answer may be beyond what you understand at this time. Odyssey's songs have been gleaned from years of wanderings and struggles.  I'm still on the journey, still claiming promises, still searching for rainbows. Yet, no matter how dark the clouds, the rainbow always appears, symbolizing His peace above the storm. I encourage you to accept the current tempests in you life as His invitation to stake your claim on God's rainbow!!

Wes King
Wes King has one of the purest singing voices in Christian music. " I think that just  because you slap the term ‘Christian’ on something doesn't necessarily make it Christian."  To Wes, music communicates life, something he doesn't take lightly. He views music as an art, and considers himself an artist as such, expressing himself through lyrics and melodies.

Wes shares, "I became very involved in my youth group and played songs for them."   He began writing songs at the age of sixteen.

Michael Card

"The true purpose of Christian music is to spread the fame of Jesus Christ, to proclaim Him by celebrating Him. This is in fact the only unique, defining characteristic feature of Christian music. It points to Christ."  Michael Card's Music brings life to the Scriptures.  His music weaves a story with word and melody.

''The purpose of my music, books and concerts is to focus on and worship Christ. The songs and writings are just vehicles to accomplish this purpose.'' Michael's desire is that these resources will assist in making Jesus Christ  beautiful and believable to the world, and that men and women will come to understand the  significance of listening to God's plan and purpose as it is revealed in their own lives.

Our own personal testimony of Michael's music is that it has helped us through rough times in our lives. His music gives us a soothing peace that at times has supplied the doorway back to our Savior.  Michael Card is our FIRST CHOICE in Christian music and concerts.

Michael Card & John Michael Talbot
"Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity"  Psalm 133

Michael Card joins with John Michael Talbot to give us "Brother to Brother".  Michael Card dates his first appreciation for authentically Christian music from the first time he  heard John Michael Talbot.  Says Michael, " I have looked to my brother John the way a runner, in the midst of a race, looks ahead to the one that is leading.  Only in this race it is not the finishing order that matters, only the faithful endurance of the runners. "

So to Michael, the making of this project was a reward, an opportunity to make friends with one who had been used so powerfully in his life.
