Lifestyle
Changes
To our Faithful Supporters of the Navajo Support Group: I wish to take
this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for
your much-needed support, both spiritually and financially, to the
ongoing ministry to our Navajo brothers and sisters.
In
the almost twelve years of our ministry on the Navajo Reservation, my
wife Barbara and myself have witnessed many changes in the lifestyle of
the Navajo Nation. There is now electricity and water in many of
the camps, a new high school has been built in the past two years and
now the middle school is nearing completion. There is new
housing, also a new shopping center with all the facilities that
accompany almost all the privileges we enjoy as we go to town.
But with all these modern conveniences, the need for
the ministry of Jesus Christ in their lives becomes an even greater
necessity. With the coming of electricity, the television with
all of the violence and corruption has come alive in the lives of the
children. Whereas several years ago
(before the advent of TV) the children in the various camps entertained
themselves playing games
together. They now sit glued to the TV watching sex, crime, and
violence. Not only the children, but also the adults. Because
of this, our young people in many areas are running in gangs, emulating
the street gangs on TV. Suicide and murder are becoming more and
more frequent. This is why we need to press
forward in our efforts to bring them to the knowledge of Jesus Christ
thru the fullness of the Restored Gospel.Over the years we have
met and become brothers and sisters to many of our Navajo people. As
they come to know and trust us, then we
become part of their family. They are a
kind and gentle people and their families are precious to them. If one
is in trouble, the whole family comes to the rescue.
It would have been impossible for the ministry to continue
over the years without your prayers and desires to help share our
expenses.
Our
thanks to all our brothers and sisters who have shared their love and
support and made the job easier. Thanks to Anthony and Mae for
their hard work and their dedication to the church work. Many other
Navajo saints are helping and our resident Pastor Leigh
Reynolds and his wife Lois continue to serve faithfully.
God bless you all and let us continue to commit ourselves
together to fulfill that great commandment, to take the gospel of Jesus
Christ with the Book of Mormon to the covenant people.
Your Brother
and Sister in Christ,
George and Barb
Allen
