The Navajo
Ministry
Support Group Report for 2004
To the
Conference of
Restoration Elders
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As I write this annual report I am reminded of the many blessings the
Lord has given to our Navajo brothers and sisters of the
Restoration on the reservation in Arizona. These blessings are not
always apparent to us but they are always there. From our viewpoint,
reminded
of their living conditions, we wonder why they are so faithful. They do
not have
a church building. Very few of their homes have running water and much
of
their housing is sub-standard like we would see in a third world
country, yet
when they ask for a blessing they know they are going to receive a
blessing!
In the year of 2004 we had several Elders of the Restoration make trips
to the
reservation in Arizona to take clothing and necessities but more
importantly to take
ministry to our brothers and sisters. They are starving for the message
and love
of Christ. Many of them can only go to church when church comes to
them.
Roads, or lack of roads in winter weather, fuel prices, and vehicles
make it
difficult to travel on a regular basis.
For our week in July 2004 we tried to do something other than a
reunion. The message
of Christ was taken to two central locations on the reservation with
two
missionary teams from Missouri and other areas. The purpose of doing
this was to try to make our ministry more personal by going into their
homes. The Navajo people want us to share with them on their own
personal
land. This makes them feel important and helps
them know we care enough to bring the message of Christ to their homes.
The two
traveling teams felt that this more personal approach went well and the
people
responded.
We have started preparing for our week in July and look forward to the
ministry
we can provide and the ministry that we will receive. We would ask you
to
remember to pray for us throughout the year but especially the week of
July 11-15,
2005 as we will be in Arizona bringing ministry to one of the remnant
of His
chosen house of Israel. We would also ask that you remember to pray for
our
Navajo brothers and sisters continually.
Your Brother in Christ,
Gary E. Hughes
